WHAT KIND OF YOGA WILL I LEARN?
Roger’s background is Baptiste Power Yoga and Vinyasa Flow and Albina’s background is Forrest Yoga. Our teaching styles are influenced by our lineage. By the end of the teacher training, you will have the basic understanding of what goes into an intelligent class sequence for a vinyasa flow/hatha yoga.
I’M WORRIED “I’M NOT READY YET”?
Your yoga, or asana practice has nothing to do with your readiness to complete a yoga teacher training. All that is required is your desire to go deeper into yoga. You don’t even have to teach yoga, if you don’t want to. At the end of this teacher training, you will acquire the skills to elevate every single area of your life, step into your innate power and create the life you yearn for.
HOW COME THE TRAINING IS SO MANY WEEKENDS AND SO MANY HOURS PER DAY?
This is a 200 hour teacher training, which means we will deliver 200 hours worth of content, the large majority of which is live and in real-time via Zoom (or a similar technology) to connect as a community and make it as close to an in-person training is possible. Because this will be a Yoga Alliance registered RYT-200 teacher training course, and just because that’s who we are, the training will be just as professional and rigorous as our in-person trainings. We decided to do it over several weekends because that allows teachers, students and parents with child-care duties to hopefully carve out some space to be fully in the training while maintaining a “normal” weekday schedule. One of the gifts of this program is that you can come out of this moment of physical distancing fully certified to begin to teach yoga safely and effectively.
DO I HAVE TO ATTEND ALL OF THE SESSIONS?
Yes. 100% participation is required. This is a live, real-time training and not pre-recorded. There will be frequent bathroom and stretch breaks and a full lunch break every day. Kids and pets in the background and with you are OK, and as much as possible, we want you carve out the space to be fully committed to your process so that we all get the most out of it. Getting people who share your house with onboard to support you is part of that. Your contribution and participation matters, a lot. Yoga Alliance also requires that you actually do the work in order to get certified. If something urgently compels you to miss any part of the program, it will have to be made up in order to complete the program, so we will handle that on a case by case basis. In short, be prepared to show up fully and on time for each session for the entire schedule. Homework as assigned can generally be done on your own time.
WHAT IS MY DAY GOING TO LOOK LIKE?
Generally, the schedule is 8am-6pm Saturday and Sunday with a one hour lunch break at the same time each day. As to what we will be doing in that time, that will change from day to day, and you will generally have a full daily yoga practice, daily meditation, daily journaling, daily practice teaching and feedback and some “chair time” where we discuss aspects of yoga philosophy, anatomy, ethics and various personal inquiry and personal growth exercises related to your path as a yoga teacher and as a human.
WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?
There are no refunds or partial refunds. We commit to delivering the full training to you and you commit to completing it when you register. If you choose not to complete it, that is not a basis for a refund. Please be fully committed before registering. We have two Q&A sessions coming up if you have additional questions or you can email us directly at email@example.com.
DO I HAVE TO BE ABLE TO STAND ON MY HEAD OR HANDSTAND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM TO BE A YOGA TEACHER?
No. We don’t care what level of physical practice you have. The only prerequisite is to commit to a regular practice of yoga and meditation during the training (and hopefully forever after), and not just on the days when we have class (a short daily practice is OK). We prefer you focus on what you CAN do, rather than what you CANNOT YET do. As the saying goes, practice and all is coming.
HOW COME IT’S ONLY $1,299? IS IT ANY GOOD?
Yes, we think so. We simply are attempting to make it affordable during these uncertain times. We normally charge $3000 for this same training in person. We have trained hundreds of outstanding yoga teachers over the years and we’ve been leading trainings regularly since 2009. Between us, we have over 40 years of yoga practice, 26 years of teaching yoga and 22 years of leading teacher trainings. You are in good hands.
ARE THERE PAYMENT PLANS AVAILABLE?
Yes, but you will pay more this way. The least expensive way to pay a one-time payment of $1,299 (or a payment plan of 4 consecutive monthly payments of $350 for a total of $1,400). This is the early bird pricing. After May 15, total tuition is $1499 or 4 monthly payments of $400. You must be paid in full prior to receiving a certificate of completion of the course.
